Yes, you can download Adobe Reader before DC from Adobe's website. Simply go to the "All versions" tab and select the version you want to download. Your files do not have to be in the cloud to use Adobe Reader DC.

There are some really important documents I need to read, but my chromebook won't open them, and for some reason I can't seem to get Adobe to download on it? I'm guessing there is some reason for that. Is it just not compatible with Chrome? Please help!

Pooja Bajaj
Answer by Pooja Bajaj

No, Adobe Reader 8 cannot be installed on a Chromebook as Chromebooks use the Chrome OS which is not compatible with traditional Windows software. However, you can try using alternative PDF readers available on the Chrome Web Store to open your important documents.

Why can't Adobe Reader PDF documents be edited? It seems to me that all it is good for is to transfer and print documents.

Murtuza
Answer by Murtuza

No. You cannot make permanent changes to PDF files using Adobe Reader; however you can perform many edit-like functions using Adobe Reader if the author has enabled these functions using Acrobat 7.0 Professional. For example, you can highlight text and add comments on sticky notes. If you're looking to create and exchange documents, collect and compare comments, and tailor file security to distribute reliable and polished Adobe PDF documents...

You should obtain a new copy of the document because once a PDF file is damaged, there is no way to retrieve the lost content. This is the easiest way to overcome this error regarding damaged files.

You have the possibility to download version 11 and DC through the official website (see link below). For additional downloads regarding previous versions, another website has to be visited.

The website is called OldApps, and you can browse it through Google Search: https://goo.gl/Dwzjqr
