Adobe Reader, a product of Adobe, was the first program to support PDF format, which means Portable Document Format.
Among the basic functions of Adobe Reader, we can create, view, search and print PDF files. It also has native file support for Adobe Flash and Adobe Photoshop Album slide shows and electronic cards, and eBooks. It has basic tools such as zoom, view multiple pages or fullscreen mode, direct access to bookmarks, search engine keywords and spell checker. Among secondary functions, we can put a password to our files or block them, so that they cannot be edited or copied. We can send files by email, and share files with other users.
Adobe Reader is free, and can be downloaded from Adobe website, registering an account. Once downloaded, the setup is quick, easy and simple. It works under Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista.
It has a very extensive help file, online support and options to buy more advanced versions of the product.

Software informer shows I have Adobe Reader 23.6 installed and suggests I should install 2021.001. According to Adobe, my installed version of 23.006.20380 is the latest version (released Nov 2023) whereas the last 2021.001 release (21.001.20155) was in May 2021. Why is Software informer recommending i revert to such an old version?
